Preserving, protecting, and promoting access to climbing resources — for the community, by the community.

Our Founding Principles

Community Lead

BCC's founding members and board of directors are a passionate group of longtime area climbers and Wyoming residents who currently live in the Bighorn Basin. We are climbers first.

Land Manager Relations

The BCC is heavily invested in forging and maintaining positive connections between the greater climbing community and relevant land managers and local communities throughout Wyoming.

Fund the Future

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the BCC raises funds, obtains grants, and organizes efforts to improve local recreation areas — benefiting climbers, other recreational users, and the environment.

Lasting Infrastructure

One of our biggest goals is establishing permanent facilities in Ten Sleep Canyon — including outhouse facilities — to serve climbers and all canyon visitors for generations to come.

Bolt & Anchor Initiative

Fixed anchors and bolts are the unsung heroes of every climb — and replacing aging hardware is one of the most direct ways the BCC keeps climbers safe and crags accessible for generations to come. Every dollar contributed to the Bighorn Anchor Initiative goes straight to the rock, protecting the routes we love and the community built around them.

Local Climbing Programs

The next generation of climbers, stewards, and conservationists is out there — and the BCC wants to find them. With your support, we hope to build youth programming that introduces young people in our region to the joy of climbing and the responsibility of caring for the wild places we share.
